This was a concept treasure I designed for the game “Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time” for the PlayStation®3 and PlayStation®Vita.

I was asked to create a treasure to function as a collectible item for players of the game to find in the in-game environments. As a long time fan of the franchise ever since the originals on the PlayStation®2, I thought it would be a great idea to design a treasure that doubled as an easter egg by referencing a notable character from the earlier games 7 years prior.

So I designed a vase depicting a character from the franchise, Slytankhamen Cooper. An ancestor of the games primary protagonist Sly Cooper, stealing from a pharaoh drawn in the style on the ancient egyptian hieroglyphics as this was the era of origin for Slytankhamen.

The concept was successful and with a few design tweaks it made it into the game. Slytankhamen along with Egypt were originally planned to be included but were cut due to time constraints, so instead the Vase can be found in the game’s third episode: “Clan of the Cave Raccoon”.
